Course Description
The data shows us that children of all socioeconomic backgrounds, ages and races are impacted by trauma. In some cases students are coming to school with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) due to some cataclysmic event in their home or community. Because of the prevalence of this, afterschool programs have to train staff on how best to support these students.
In this workshop, staff members will learn about trauma informed care and explore why it is an important tool to add to their toolkit. This training will focus on specific strategies that can be utilized by afterschool and summer staff to engage with troubled youth and provide tips to guide interaction.
The workshop is hands on, fast paced and delivered in a blended learning environment and provides staff with multiple opportunities to collaborate and discuss the content.
